A woman is dead following a stabbing Thursday night in Penn Hills, according to Allegheny County Police.
Emergency dispatchers were notified of the incident at approximately 9:39 p.m. in the 700 block of Penny Drive. When officers arrived, they learned the victim had already been transported from the scene in a private vehicle.
Authorities said the woman was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival despite medical efforts to save her.
On Friday morning, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Jinx Hairston, 45, of Penn Hills.
Investigators have not released details about what led up to the stabbing, and it is not yet clear whether the victim knew the person responsible. Police have also not confirmed if any suspects are in custody.
Detectives with Allegheny County Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. They are reviewing evidence and speaking with potential witnesses to determine exactly what occurred in the moments leading up to the stabbing.
