Authorities say officers were called around 1:00 a.m. on May 17 to the 5100 block of I-55 North, where a disturbance and shooting were reported near The Hideaway nightclub. When officers arrived, they discovered evidence of a violent altercation involving multiple individuals in the parking lot.

Investigators determined that a physical confrontation involving several males escalated, during which gunfire was exchanged.

During the incident, officers located a vehicle—a black Honda Accord—with a female inside who had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. She was transported for emergency treatment, but later died from her injuries. The victim was identified by Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard as 19-year-old Alana Duck of Brandon, Mississippi.

Two additional victims were also struck by gunfire during the incident. Both were transported by AMR ambulance services to local hospitals, where they are receiving medical treatment for their injuries. Their current conditions have not been released.

Police have not yet announced any arrests, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the exchange of gunfire, including what sparked the initial altercation.

The Jackson Police Department says the investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives continue collecting evidence, reviewing witness statements, and working to identify all individuals involved in the shooting.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the case develops.
