A teenage girl died Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a truck while riding her bicycle on Laframboise Boulevard in Saint-Hyacinthe, according to provincial police.
The fatal collision occurred shortly after midday and prompted a significant emergency response as authorities worked to secure the scene and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to preliminary information released by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the young cyclist was traveling northbound on Laframboise Boulevard when a truck driver, who was turning from Martineau Street, allegedly failed to see her during the maneuver.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the area, but despite their efforts, the teenager succumbed to her injuries. Authorities have not yet publicly released the victim’s identity.

As a result of the crash, Laframboise Boulevard was closed between Martineau Street and Allaire Avenue while police conducted their examination.
