According to the Dorchester County Coroner, Ismael Jerrod Clark was identified as the man who died after being shot during a law enforcement response to a reported burglary in progress at Sonny’s Convenience Store on Boone Hill Road in Summerville.

Deputies with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call at approximately 12:16 a.m. after receiving reports of a break-in at the business. During the course of the response, the incident resulted in Clark sustaining fatal injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have not released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
