Two people were fatally shot Monday evening after leaving a Mobil gas station in Chicago’s Fuller Park neighborhood, authorities said.
The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 200 block of West Pershing Road. Chicago police said a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were leaving the gas station when three people in a silver Nissan sedan approached them.
According to investigators, the suspects opened fire before fleeing eastbound in the sedan. The 25-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while the 22-year-old woman was also struck several times.
Both victims were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. Their identities had not been released in the initial report.
No other injuries were reported in connection with the shooting.
Detectives assigned to Area One are investigating the double fatal shooting. Authorities had not immediately announced any arrests or provided a possible motive. Investigators are expected to review available evidence and work to determine what led to the attack and identify those responsible.
The shooting remains an active investigation, and additional information may be released as detectives continue gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses.
