A family is facing an unimaginable loss after Deloris Kay Huff, 70, of Clay City, died following a tragic ATV crash Tuesday night on Cat Creek Road. The crash also left three of her grandchildren injured.
Kentucky State Police said troopers were called around 8 p.m. to the 1500 block of Cat Creek Road after Powell County Dispatch requested assistance with a fatal ATV collision.
A preliminary investigation determined that Huff was riding a Honda ATV with her three grandchildren when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned in a ditch.
Huff and the three juveniles were taken to Centerpoint Health in Winchester for medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Huff was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Her three grandchildren survived the crash but were also seriously affected by the tragedy. As of Wednesday, all three remained hospitalized. One child was listed in critical condition, while the other two were expected to be released later that day.
For Huff’s family, the tragedy carries an especially painful weight as they mourn her death while also praying for the recovery of the grandchildren who were with her during the crash.
