With heavy hearts, the Onaga, Kansas, community is mourning the loss of Alyssa Mullins, 18, whose life was tragically cut short following a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Pottawatomie County.
The collision occurred around 6:42 a.m. near Highway 63 and Doyle Creek Road, just north of St. Mary’s. According to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, Mullins was driving a 2003 silver Honda Civic southbound on Highway 63 when a 2011 white Chevrolet Impala traveling northbound appeared to cross the centerline.
Authorities said the reason the Impala crossed the centerline remained unknown as the investigation continued. The vehicle then struck Mullins’ Honda Civic, resulting in serious injuries.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and provided assistance before Mullins was transported by medical helicopter to Stormont Vail Hospital for further treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Mullins later died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the collision. Her death has left family, friends, and members of the Onaga community grieving the loss of a young life that ended unexpectedly.
