JACKSON, S.C. — Authorities have arrested five people in connection with a deadly shooting that claimed the life of 17-year-old Kahlil Simmons and left another 16-year-old injured.
The shooting happened on April 13, 2026, in the 100 block of Goodman Road in Jackson, according to authorities. Investigators have continued working to determine the events that led to the gunfire and identify everyone who may have played a role.
The latest arrest involves a 16-year-old juvenile who faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The juvenile is being held by the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
Authorities previously charged 18-year-old Jared Grant Marsh II of Aiken with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and attempted murder. 17-year-old Tyler Hans Lariscey of Aiken was also charged with murder and attempted murder.
Marsh and Lariscey were arrested during a traffic stop on the afternoon of April 21.
Two Adults Charged as Accessories
Investigators also arrested 40-year-old Tarah Alexander and 40-year-old Bryan Alexander, both of Aiken. The two adults have been charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
According to the information provided by authorities, investigators allege that the mother disposed of a firearm and clothing after learning what had happened. Those allegations form part of the ongoing investigation and will ultimately be addressed through the court process.
The four adults arrested in connection with the case are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
Kahlil Simmons Remembered
The death of Kahlil Simmons has left family members, friends and members of the community mourning the loss of a teenager whose life was cut short by gun violence.
Another 16-year-old victim was also injured in the shooting. Authorities have not released extensive information about that victim’s condition.
Investigation Continues
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force during the investigation and arrests.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active. Additional charges or information could be released as detectives continue examining evidence and determining the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
